Cilshafe Herbs is an off-shoot of Cilshafe Garden Design, a well-established, local, family firm comprising of Becky & her son Tristan on the garden design side, and the herb side of the business comprising of Becky and her daughter-in-law Lara who is the administrator. We have been growing herbs and selling locally for over 30 years in and around Johnstown, Carmarthen. During the pandemic of 2020 as everything was shut down and gardens were not able to be landscaped, Becky had a vision for creating an online ordering service for herbs and so Cilshafe Herbs was born! Our ethos is to aim to use products that are completely recyclable and environmentally friendly and to create a very low carbon footprint.

Therefore, while we are not registered as an organic company; we use no chemicals on our herbs and we have sourced recycled and recyclable 9” pots to pot our herbs in. Additionally, we will be supplying our herbs in a peat-free compost as the intensive mining of peat can have a detrimental effect on our climate and can destroy our ecosystems. We will also use plastic-free packaging and labels as much as we can. (We will be using up our old plastic plant labels initially, rather than throwing them away to end up in landfill). We grow our herbs in polytunnels which, when full, smell absolutely wonderful!

Growing herbs is easy if you know what you are doing, and so we will be providing instructions on planting and position etc. Butterflies and bees are very attracted to herbs and their flowers and scent, and so it is great to have a good variety in your garden. Herbs have a variety of uses including culinary, medicinal, aromatherapy as well as looking and smelling gorgeous in the garden! We will be highlighting different herbs on our blog/newsletter, offering recipes and explaining the various uses of each herb.

We will be posting our plants out UK wide, or alternatively, if you are local to Johnstown, once payment is received, feel free to come and collect and have a chat!

We really look forward to getting this venture up and running! We hope to become a successful gardening company, with an online herb delivery service, that is eco-friendly and helps to sustain our butterflies and bees. We are learning as we go and so any customer feedback is welcomed.
